Changing BG color of new post icon cell?

I have a blue / white alternating scheme going but want the bg of the first cell to be white also leaving just last posts and posts columns blue. The first column has the icon for new post old post or locked forum icon in it...Can I edit a template? And if I edit the template will the CSS override the code?

I think you are looking for this template:

Admin CP -> Styles & Templates -> Style Manager -> « » -> Forum Home Templates -> forumhome_forumbit_level2_post

At the top of the template, make the change in red:

No, just for "level2_post" forums in the forum listings.

"level1_post" forums should already be that color.
