    1. Yes

    2. It's really a matter of opinion. I prefer Linux over Windows.

If its possible id suggest running apache mysql and php on linux rather than 2000, if you need to go with windows i would suggest 2003 if possible

        1. Yes.

        2. Based on what I've read, I rate them in this order:
        1. Windows 2003
        2. Linux
        3. Windows 2000

Why is it better for window 2003? Is it more stable than window 2000?

Just improvements in general Windows 2003 has been rock solid since release and even in pre release it preformed insanely well under stress.

Can VBulleitn run on Window 2003 Web Server?

I was told that I cannot install MySQL on 2003 Web Server but only on Window 2003 Standard edition.

              Is this true?

              Thanks,
              Linda

vB will run on any web server that runs PHP and MySQL. I have no idea what restrictions are on Windows 2003 Web Server though. I've never heard that they can't run MySQL and would be surprised if that were true.

I ran a test installation of vBulletin on My current installation of Windows XP Pro. With apache, php, and mysql..

It SHOULD work on 2k3 too

I'm trying this on my window 2003 web server right now and running into some problems with mysql. Can you help me out?

I can't seem to get mysql to load. I install this file mysql-4.0.20a-win.zip from www.mysql.com.

Can you give me some info on how to install mysql on window 2003 server or window 2000 server?

                      Thanks,
                      Linda

For me, running vB on a Win2000 setup, MySQL table corruptions happen much more often than on a *nix.

Are you getting any error messages from MySQL, Windows, or PHP? That would certainly help in figuring out what is the problem.

By the way, doesn't this question belong in the MySQL forum?

                              1. Unzip contents of mysql-4.0.20a-win.zip.
                              2. Run the winmysqladmin.exe file in the 'bin' directory.

This should install the MySQL service. The first time you run this, you'll need to specify a username and password for winmysqladmin's adminstrative interface, and don't forget you'll also need to set-up the root password for the normal MySQL service too - use mysqladmin.exe in a command prompt session to do that.

                              Regards,

                              Martyn
