I am getting the same error, however I'm getting it when I try to open the XML files generated by vB with the 'download private message' function.

Fresh install, I didn't modify any of the files... only the templates and added a few new common templates in an array in global.php but that's all.

I'm trying to do this myself. How do I make it work? I can't go and reinstall everything; it's far too complicated and my board is far too active.

Can the developers please help with a fix? I get the same syntax error. I haven't hacked anything. I'm using the latest version.

        Shaun Lyon,

        Do the following*:

Admincp > Language & Phrases > Language Manager > English: Edit Settings > HTML Cahacter Set > Paste: ISO-8859-1

*These instructions are for the English language.

Its not a code fix but a db fix, just do whats above.

            Scott,

Is it the same character set for all languages? I wasn't entirely sure so I added my little disclaimer.
