Is there any way to exclude a particular forum from the "new posts" search?

I have added a couple of RSS feeds to a particular forum on my site.

As they're quite active feeds, they sometimes relegate the actual posts on the forum to more lowly positions.

Is there any way I can specify not to include this RSS-fed forum from the "new posts" search?

    Thanks,

    Chris

I too had the same problem with RSS feeds. The solution of modifying all the places where the search is done and adding the &exclude=xx was not very elegant. A better approach would be having a flag in each forum whether or not it should be included in the NewPosts search.

Hopefully this will be considered for a future upgrade.

I have had complaints about this on my board.
I was just going to post this same problem.
        What did you find?
Not indexing certain forums did not work.

... use &exclude=x,y,z at the end of the search url where x,y,z are the forumID's you wish to exclude. So, your search line should read something like

            search.php?do=getnew&exclude=10,11,12

... which would yield all new posts except those from forums 10,11 and 12.

            That help?

Yup - do it wherever you want to use that New Posts function. Depends on your style really where that is located.

how do you exclude from the vbadvanced home page portal.

i've eliminated it from showing up in new posts, but can't get it to stop showing in recent threads on homepage?

                      any suggestions would be welcomed.

That would be a question for the vBAdvanced folks.
