New Dutch Translation in the works

Do you have any idea of the consequences?
If we translate 3.5 I assume it will be relatively easy to upgrade to 3.6. There aren't going to be many new texts on the front end, are there?
OTOH, if we use 3.6, people who are stuck on 3.5 for a while may not be able to use the new translation.
As we say in Dutch: what's wisdom? Why do you think it's so important to use 3.6 for this project?
I was just asking a question, I don't feel it so important. For me personally it's not that big of an issue if your translation is aimed at 3.5.x or the 3.6.x series, because I need to upgrade my site first from 3.0.14 to 3.5.4 anyway.
So I am perfectly happy if 3.5.4 get's translated in a professional manner. I was just wondering if you take 3.6 into this project, since it will be released the moment your project has started. And no, I am not aware of any consequences, because I don't have inside knowlegde of the VB language system. I am just asking this as a customer/user of VBulletin and your future language pack.
Thanks for doing this!How much do you love XenForo?Comment

So the pack will be available (the first version) somewhere in september? Thats a bummer really. We wanted to have launched by then (somewhere in august really). Also, will it indeed be 3.6.x?
Still, thanks for sharing the language pack when its doneA bullet may have your name on it, but shrapnel is addressed "to whom it may concern"Comment

The translator has begun her work. One of the things she noticed is that some 'Global' translations will appear in the control panels as well. So a side-effect of using this language pack will be English control panels with some Dutch words.

finally, my purchase of a vBulletin license has completed yesterday :-)
so now I can post my homebrew vBulletin translation in Dutch here.
the XML file is made on a 3.4.0 version, so it might still need some work for usage on 3.5.X
I experienced it to be very confusing when the terminology on the board was all in Dutch, while the admin and mod panels were still in english.
so, I translated a lot of admin phrases as well. (not done yet, its a LOT)
I am convinced the phrasing of this translation is a big improvement compared to the earlier Dutch language pack.
I have made extensive use of the search option of the phrase manager, to be able to 'group translate' certain phrases.
there even were a number of big fat writing errors, fixed as well of course.
for the interested who are not prepared to go through the whole language files, i prepared an overview of 'decisions' and changes I made.
as the language pack, its in proper Dutch :
post --> bericht (+meervoudsvormen)
to post --> plaatsen (+context afh. afgeleiden)
evenement --> gebeurtenis (+mv)
modereren --> beheren
moderatie --> goedkeuring/beheer
Dit gebeurtenis --> Deze gebeurtenis
Meerdaags evenement --> Meerdaagse gebeurtenis
Terugkerend evenement --> Terugkerende gebeurtenis
nieuw gebeurtenis --> nieuwe gebeurtenis
newevent --> Bericht van nieuwe gebeurtenis:
event_posted_for_timezone_x --> Deze gebeurtenis is geplaatst voor tijdzone X en zal dus op een andere dag verschijnen in jouw kalender.
afsnijden --> afkappen (was foute vertaling van cutoff)
*vele kleine wijzigingen aan de syntax (fout gebruik van de/een/het, etc)
*vele kleine wijzigingen aan de spelling (d/t fouten, tikfouten)
I hope this translation to be of good use, at least for the time being until the professional translator is finished.

I don't think there's a real translation for that..Comment

in english; it doesn't need translation :-)

I don't know anything from the language-pack options from the inside out, but I never understood why VBulletin didn't provide a divided section for the frontend and the backend. So we could translate the frontend only and leave the backend in english (this is what most people prefer, so why not give us this option?).How much do you love XenForo?Comment
