I am looking to install Vbulletin on a Unix server with:
Solaris 7 Unix (Sparc) OS
SunOne (Netscape) Web server v6.0sp5
I am assuming that I have to install:
MySQL (which requires : GNUtar )
PHP4 (Which requires MANY GNU software installs : flex , bison, gcc, gmake, automake, autoconf.....)
I have a few questions:
1) which is the best (more stable and easier to install) version of Vbulletin for Solaris Unix (Sparc)?
2) Do I have to install all these GNU packages to install Vbulletin?
3) If so is there an easier way of getting all the software in one place or fewer places?
(I tried sunfreeware.com but many of the links were dead)
4) Has anyone installed on a similar platform (Solaris and Netscape), and what was your experience?
4b) Should I just give it up and put it on a NT/2000 server? (This by the way is not a good option for me (or I would have done it already).
It seems like a lot of work to install just the two pre-req software on Sparc Solaris.
The pre-req's have pre-req's, and they have pre-req's on top of that.
I was trying to test the waters and do a proof of concept for Vbulletin with the 101 Lite version (my previous thread), but that (I am told) is old and unsupported (I had downloaded it before it was taken off the web site). I have been runnning into problems with installing the pre-req software.
