MySQL Connections (want to buy vB)

    Hello,

i would like to buy vB 2, but i have to know if it would work with my provider ("Schlund & Partner").

The board i use at the moment counts about 10.000 Views/day.

And there are about 30-50 users online at the same time (last 10 minutes).

The limits of my provider are:

    - max. 12.000- 15.000 Mysql Queries / hour
    - max. 12 parallel Mysql connections

Is it possible may to run vBulletin on 2 Mysql databases?

    thanks!

    4.167 queries per second!! and 12 max_connections

your host is very restrictive and you will have problems with any php/mysql based forum including vbulletin

i suggest you find a better host as that is very restrictive for any php/mysql forum script

as to 2 databases - you mean 1 vb forum using 2 databases ? vB uses 1 database for 1 installation

with vB you can in config.php turn off persistent connections (pconnect = 0) to ease the 12 max_connections limit your host set

how many new posts/threads per day are you getting with those 50 users online ?

hmmm you should be okay... but it's hard to say how different vB would perform compared to your current forum script in terms of mysql usage

also from my experience moving to vBulletin has the effect of increasing member activity since it's generally a faster forum script ...

my ezboard use to get 3900 posts in 10 months with 200 members

changing to vB i get 1300 - 2400 new posts each day and 30 - 150 new members per day
