    Registering

Here is a post I made on the UBB board

    Quote

Ok maybe I'm missing something but a user will
register with a bogus email address and still
gets added as a member. If your going to validate the email address the member should not be added to the member list until he logs in with his password

I am thinking of upgrading to VB I hace phpbb installed but
I think I will run into the same issue.

Does this also happen in VB

also how would I make a Template in VB, I tried the demo
    but kept getting an error.

    Thanks

    Pete

in vB you can prevent this from happening if you

in vB admin panel options, enable
    - email verification - when member registers they need to check their email account to get the activation url and code to activate their account prior to activating they will not be able to post
    - moderate new users - if this is enabled, members who activate their account from the activation url/code will be placed in a 'member awaiting moderation' queue ready for you the admin to manually approve. if this is disabled, members who click the activation url and code, will automatically become registered members who can post
    - access masks

Thanks that's what I needed to know.
Right now I get people in my member list
who are not members and when I do a mass
e-mail informing of upgrades I get back around
      8% bogus email address.

      What about making templates.

if you mean editing/customising templates, vB's admin backend provides full template editing function to edit and customise every part of vB forums - theres 100s of templates along with the simple header/footer templates

my own vB forum http://animeboards.com and also look at other live vBs at http://vbulletin.com/links.php
