Some of the features "leaked" so far...

    - Optional threaded view
    - Completely revamped template system
    - Karma
    - User ranks per usergroup
    - A many to one relationship of Usergroups to User
    - Restyled Admin CP
    - Lots of other stuff I can't find right now but I'm sure it has been leaked...
    - Oh yeah, custom profile fields have been revamped and you can now search by them
    - Admin sets what fields are shown on Memberlist (including custom profile fields)

We hope to open the Beta forum next month and have something for you to beta test on your on site in June.

            Looking at purchasing this week

However, I have some hesitation based on CMS requirements and version 3 availability.

If I purchase 2.2.5 - I'm only allowed upgrades for 2.x.x, correct? Or will I have license to use 3.0 when it arrives?

Also, how likely is the CMS addition to vb3 (talked about on vbulletin.org) going to be available in initial releases? or will this likely involve further beta testing and will not be included until a later date?

I stand by the quality of VBB and have no doubts in 3.0. I just want to know if I should wait or purchase now.

            Thanks,

You will be able to download 3.0 at no extra cost providing you still have access to the Members Area. (Which should be no problem because you get one year access with the purchase of a license.)

As for the CMS, this will be released somethime after vB 3.0 and will be an optional add-on at a additional cost which has not yet been determined.

Does this mean we can choose either to use tree-view or threaded view?

And it's entirely user controlled. Each user can choose whether to use Linear or Threaded view.

                      Yipee......at least it's an option.

When upgrading to vB3, will it be a breeze or you have to do a clean installation?

Everyone should be cheering for the addition of true threading to 3.0, because it's much more than just an optional "tree/threaded view."

People are complaining against the wrong thing. They think threaded = threaded view. It doesn't. Threaded view is the tree view. It's the threaded structure that's important.

It's a complaint I see time and again from people who--mostly--received their first exposure to forums on the web.

What I want to see is a way to easily trace replies/originals - i.e. another button or two on each post (still displayed linearly) that would jump-to-original or jump-to-replies. That's the way it was originally done "in the good ol' BBS days" of the 80s. The threaded tree view was originally only used in Usenet newsreaders and their BBS clones.

                        Cheers...
