Has vB ever gone on sale?

    Hi,

Has vB ever gone on sale. For example 30% off for the month of ---. (You get the picture.)

Or should I just give it up and go and purchase one today?

An honest anwer is appreciated! IF this is not the appropriate place to ask, a PM from the vB staff would also be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

I've never seen it go on sale, or any discounts for that matter including academic licenses. They do offer bulk license discounts though I believe.

We have never had a sale as far as I'm aware.

As Filburt mentioned you can get a nice discount by purchasing licenses in bulk, you could get together with a bunch of webmasters and purchase a few to save some money.

Also if you join the Affiliate Program and then use your link to buy it, you'll get a commission for doing so.

Wouldn't that be a violation of CJ and/or vbulletin afifiliate program agreements?

It's not against the rules of our program as we have specifically told people they can do that in the past. Whether or not it is against CJ rules I couldn't tell you.

Will each license holder have a license number, etc to get into the members area?

Yes, that's how it works. Jelsoft assigns you a customer ID (username) and password for the member area, and each download of vBulletin has that information in it for verification and antipiracy reasons.

I just did this, and it worked like a charm!

Can't wait to get the CJ deposit!

Jelsoft is wonderful with this, they are assigning us (Kevin said they would) logins for each license, for each webmaster :-)

If anyone would like a discount, I would highly reccomend going with 6 or more people and using CJ as well as the Volume Discount.

I'm thinking there may be an adjustment of vB's pricing in the near future due to competition from some free alternatives.

The price will not be going down, if that's what you are implying. "Free competitor" is kind of an oxymoron...

I really don't consider phpBB to be competition. The only thing it's got going for it is a new style.

You could always buy the $85 license and then just renew it next year...
