    Pre-sale question.

    Hi,

I tried asking pre-sale question and the topic got closed: https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/foru...ic-by-ids-only

Any reason to that? It's a pre-sale question. If I can get an answer - only then I will be buying the license.

I obviously don't have a license yet since it was pre-sale question.

Isn't this sub-forum meant for that?

    Thank you.

    Regards

Hello. Apologies, it’s just your post reads like a support question.

The answer from a pre-sale perspective is, yes you can route to topics using the node ID.

URL structures in vB5 are however completely different from vB4, and the ID numbers will change if upgrading from a vB4 installation. Default vB4 URLs will redirect to the vB5 URL after upgrade. Customised vB4 URLs, such as with third party products like vBSEO, will not redirect however.

I don't want to upgrade from vB4 (don't have it either and not interested in it).

I'm interested only in vB5, but I need ability to access posts and topics by only ID numbers (for my custom script).

I see at the moment in all vB5 URLs have forum-name in them and without forum-name the URL does not open the topics / posts at all.

Could you give me an example how both URLs (with topic / post IDs only) would look like? Let's say with this topic ID: 4412879 and your previous reply post ID: 4412884

      Thanks

You would write it like this:

You can also set 'route by node' in this way as the default behaviour. It's really intended more as a diagnostic tool but there's nothing to stop you running the whole site like that.
My personal vB5 demo site does this: https://www.talknewsuk.com

That's great. It's exactly what I was looking for.

          Thank you.
