Hello,
I am trying to help out a friend who currently has a site running vBulletin v3.8.9 to upgrade to something a tad more current (and hopefully migrate to using TLS to serve pages a little more securely). My plan is to (after doing a little reading) create a mirror of the production site that is not publicly available, verify that it is functional, perform an upgrade of the private site, verify again, and then make it the production system.
I am assuming that I can download and install 3.8, clone the database, and pretty much have a running site similar to the current site. In that regard, I have read a lot of posts that mention downloading the software, but I can not find where to download the software from. Will this be something he will need to do using his account login credentials, or is there a download URL from which I can get the software myself? I do not have a customer account, but if I can create one for this purpose I'll be happy to do that as well. However, I'm suspecting downloads are only available for licensed customers?
TIA for any help, and/or pointers to useful reading.
