    Why vBulletin is so costly?

    Hello Community,

WIlling to start a community for the shoppers at [domain removed] with a subdomain and checking out all available Softwares. There are many free softwares and vBulletin is paid one I was not aware of. Also, the 25GB plan is not sufficient as I expect a lot of traffic on this. Are there any additional services or hosting provided from vBulletin to keep it recurring paid software? Usually, most licensed tools like there are Yearly or one time on WordPress bolgs.

25 GB is a lot of bandwidth if not being used on large images and videos which the site you linked to was not based on, however if vBCloud proved to be too expensive due to bandwidth concerns you could always purchase the the one time VB5 Connect license and host it on your own server. That is a $249 one time fee for all future upgrades to VB 5.x, you can use the software indefinitely.

You get what you pay for with forum software. "Free" software a) isn't free because virtually every modification or add on costs, b) is often advertising driven in exchange for being "free", and c) is limited in its functionality compared with premium products like vBulletin.

Different software projects have different business models. We have always followed a commercial and for-profit model with vBulletin. The cost is easily amortized over the lifetime of the software.

          Thanks for the details Wayne.
JOY No, 25GB can be consumed daily without cache mechanism with CDN.

If Cloud doesn't fit your needs, you can buy a downloadable version for $249.00.
