    Mod panel options not working

Hi, We have a VB 3.8.5 forum which has been in use many years. We are currently considering a brand new installation but can't do certain things which we need to do before we can upgrade/move it. Around a year ago we had a hack attack and it caused big problems. we had a programmer sort it for us, they renamed the admincp and modcp folders and a few other changes to increase security. We are running 3.8.5.

Ever since we can’t ban or prune users. We can get into admin panel and mod panel, and use most if not all options EXCEPT pruning/banning users. When we hit that option (from either admin or mod panel) we get a new login dialogue, no idea why?! We obviously tried logging in using admin and mod passwords but it never works, login fails. Its a nightmare, we have lots of users we need to ban (spammers) but have to just keep changing their passwords as we can can’t ban them!

Could this be a folder permissions thing or something else in the site files? I have the whole site open in FTP/html editor software, any tips or checks we can do would be VERY gratefully received. Thanks
