    Questions regarding vBulletin Cloud

Hi, maybe I will buy vBulletin in the Cloud soon, so I have a few questions.

Can I use vBulletin 4.x version on the Cloud? Another question, can I install a few addons that are really necessary for a community?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Sorry, it's a no on both counts.

The Cloud platform only runs vBulletin 5. And add-ons are not available on the cloud platform.

I have been running 4.2.2 for a long time, and have just moved over til cloud. No add ons can be moved over, but for me - the most important thing is to let go of all the hosting. I just need the forum to "run by itself". I can manage without most of the add ons. Rest, I will figure out a solution. But! If you are moving over, be patient. It takes time, and you can't move it by yourself. You buy a add on for $239 and then one of the VB supports moves it for you. Its a little job to get the backup files, and rename, and upload. But when that is done, its just to wait. Are you lucky it will go fast, but in my case, the forum is locked on the 3 day now. I hope I will be managed to open it before the weekend is over. My problem is that Im in Norway so the time different is awful.i am 9 hours ahead of support, so it has been some late nights. If your belong to the states, you will have a lot less trouble I think

The important thing to remember, to be clear, is you cannot run vBulletin 4 on vB Cloud.

When an existing vB4 forum is moved to vB Cloud - as in the example above - the forum is upgraded to vB5 as part of the process, as in all such upgrades any custom styles and add-ons are lost.

I still don't get it. 70% of members won't buy and use vBulletin 5. Why you can't run vB4 on Cloud?
Okay, I can live without addons, but I don't know why are we forced to use a software full of bugs? Don't get it...But it's your software, it's your decision.

That's correct, it IS our decision and our decision is to use the only actively developed software line on our Cloud service.
            Vote for:

            - Admin Settable Paid Subscription Reminder Timeframe (vB6)
            - Add Admin ability to auto-subscribe users to specific channel(s) (vB6)

              What kind of bugs?
I trust the Vbullteam to know what they are doing. If they mean v5 is safe enough, to run and charge cloud pr month, I would belive its good enough? What are you so obvious against for v5 for?

Plenty of people run sites on vB5, it's fine to use.

It's not bug free, but neither is any software.

With Cloud the regular upgrades are done for you as well, so you don't have to worry about those.
Each new upgrade brings bug fixes, improvements and (often) new features.

Yes, those things convinced me to choose Vcloud.
I was just wondering what the user ment with his statement

Some longer term users do prefer vB4, certainly from a modification and customisation perspective it has some advantages over vB5 (though vB5 makes some areas of customisation easier via Site Builder so it does depend on what you want to do).

vB5 is arguably easier to style than vB4 as well.

Bug that really annoys me is when I get a notification, I view it then after a few hours I still see "1" in the red box.

I am not really against vBulletin but I do prefer vB4 over vB5. I just dislike vB5, anything wrong with that? I hope in the near future you will allow users to use vB4 like IPS allows users to choose 3.4 or 4.1 version.

                      Peace.

That doesn't happen on a default installation.....

That will definitely not be happening, just to be clear.
