Wow... I got some bad information a couple years ago then. But this is great news if we can now upgrade to 5 and keep our history.

I've had a ticket in for a week to upgrade and it's still pending. Hope we can get something going soon. Thanks

Is the upgrade from 4 to 5 simple?

The technical process of the upgrade is fairly straightforward,
          1. Backup your site
          2. Upload new files
          3. Run the upgrade script
The reality is that ALL your customizations and third party products will be cease to function so you will need to find replacements, or use the new functionality in VB5. For us, the biggest issue was rebuilding the styles which are also incompatible after the upgrade. For our site, we did a practice run on our development site half a dozen times to make sure everything was the way we wanted it before rolling it out to production. The technical upgrade took less than an hour, importing the styles took a few minutes, all the manual changes a little over 5 hours.

Well you also have to remove the VB4 files before uploading the VB5 files which is a step never needed in VB upgrades prior. Images, attachments, and avatars (if stored in the file system) must not be removed.

Yeah, that was a pretty important step I should have included. There were actually nearly 200 steps in the project plan I put together for our upgrade ... Just to make sure I didn't forget something.

In the database. You cannot alter it.

So sad that this was not made clear and I bought it twice. Shouldn't VB disallow if the license is already purchased?

It's in the database which you won't have access to on Cloud

Send a mail to sales[at]vbulletin.com from your registered email account explaining the situation and requesting that the additional Mobile Suite license be refunded and they'll sort that for you.

                    Trevor,

Greatly appreciated your advise. I have opened a ticket and received confirmation that the money for the duplicate mobile suite license would be refunded.

                    Thank You!
