PCIM forum has been running on SMF for the better part of a decade. We have had to rebuild at least twice in the past 9 years but have been pretty stable now for 4 years. We are in discussions now to migrate over to VB for a couple of reasons.
1. Google and Bing don't really seem to like SMF, so we wind up penalized in some way or another in those search engines. For this reason we don't believe we've been getting the search hits that would lead new members to us. We are hoping VB will be more digestible to the search engines. Is this true?
2. There seems to be more flexibility in VB for modifications and functions.
I only found 15 migrating threads here that didn't quite answer what I was looking for. We are using SMF 2.0.7 with ezblocks and pages and a link directory. Will the migration be painful or have your guru's got it figured our where we will have the least down time?
The site is at http://parsonscorner.org/answers if you want to look it over. We will be making a decision within a week or so.
Thank you...
