What advantages does vBulletin have over IP Board?

What exactly are the functional differences between the two boards and are there things one provides and not the other?

    Thank you for your time.

Blogs, Social Groups and Article handling. Those are the primary ones though you can purchase blogs as an addon for Invision. Also vBulletin has a one-time fee for the license. Invision has a purchase fee than a fee every six months to maintain access to upgrades.

Umm, and then each addon has it's own upgrade fee.

      Okay.

A follow up question; was there ever a vBulletin 1.0 and 2.0? I have just heard of the 3.0 and 4.0 and now 5.0. The second digit and the third after the first number; for example 5.1.6 are these free upgrades and corrections to the same license? If so, am I looking to pay for an 'upgrade' of $209 for vBulletin 6.0 or for upgrades within the 5.0?

First version of vBulletin sold was 1.1.3. Then there was a entire series of version 2.X.X

A license for vBulletin 5 gives access to all versions of vBulletin 5... 5.1.7. 5.2.0, etc... vBulletin 6 would have an upgrade fee.
