Directory Structure

Sorry I searched everywhere and couldn't find an answer to this.

In vBulletin 5 Connect is it possible to have the following directory structure:

http://www.mysite.com/forum

http://www.mysite.com/blog

If you install vBulletin in your website root that will actually be the directory structure by default.

OK, I think I understand what you are saying but my website is not just a forum/blog. I have a home page and other pages/folders in the root. So in that case is it possible to have /forum and /blog folders as opposed to reaching the blog by going to /forum/blog.


Edit: hehe the second time I read your post I realized that is exactly what you are saying.

Got this response from support just now:

Hello,

Your blog and forum must be located in the same directory.

Example: http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/blogs

So two different answers... too late I already purchased the software. Nice.

I am official vBulletin support and my answer stands, if your vBulletin is installed in the root you get the directory structure you requested:

Example:

Root: http://sedona.vbulletin.net/
Forum: http://sedona.vbulletin.net/forum/
Blog: http://sedona.vbulletin.net/blogs/

However you have now added that you have a homepage and other folders in the root- in that case you would not want to install vBulletin in the root as they would likely conflict with existing pages/folders/ I would recommend you install in a folder called "community" or something similar so URLs would be like domain.com/community/forum/ and domain.com/community/blogs/

We're often asked on this site why there is /forum/forum/ in the URL and the reason is because in past versions vBulletin was always installed in the /forum/ directory and now to keep old links working we have to keep it in the same folder- but if starting fresh with VB5 we would install it somewhere else.

We try not to make changes that wouldn't normally exist on customer sites and wouldn't be supported if they did./forum/forum/ is merely an aesthetics issue and not worth taking special measures to change.
