You only have to pay one once, 399 dollars.
But, in my opinion, this is not something you would need!

Firstly vB5 is responsive which mean you can access it via browser from every screen (e.g mobile, tablet, pc) without problems. Secondly, this version is much more expensive. Thirldy, Google Play (for android phones), and Apple Store (for iPhones, iPads) will charge you in order to let you upload your mobile application. For example, you will have to pay 25dollars in order to be able to make Google developer account which is required for uploading applications to Google Play.

And $99 to Apple per year for an Apple developer account.

But the $399 is a one time payment to vBulletin. You would not need to pay again you will get all updates to VB 5.x and Mobile Suite 1.x for free. If there is ever a VB6 or a Mobile Suite 2.x you may need to pay to upgrade to those versions if you want to upgrade.

1. as far as i understand, mobile bundle i need, if i want to download special program from google play to read forum on mobile device. correct?
2. i saw many treads, regarding 4.2.2 vs 5.x... what is the difference between them? Most of the people vote for 4.2.2. does it make sense to start with 4.2.2.?
i am going to make small forum (hopefully around 500 people)

1. Mobile Suite is needed if you want to have dedicated apps in Apple and Google app stores for you forum. VB5 has responsive design so the app isn't necessary. You should download the vBulletin Community Forum app to your own device and test it here- your app will be the same, though you can choose colors and logo images.It will have the same abilities and same bugs though.

2.VB 4.2.2 is the earlier version- it has been on the market about 3 years longer than VB5 and was an upgrade to the very popular VB 3.x. Unlike with VB5, every feature of VB3 was brought to VB4. VB4 is easier to create modifications for and as a result there are over a thousand free modifications on vBulletin.org as opposed to 50 or 60 for VB5. For this reason I would personally start with VB4. If you don't like it you can always upgrade to VB5 and keep your content, but you can't keep your content and downgrade from VB5 to VB4.

You get accessto both VB4 and VB5 when you buy a license, but you can only have one live forum at a time.

There is no official vBulletin provided Russian translation for VB4 (or VB5.)

There is a customer provided translation here - http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/forum...4-0-6%5D-suite

However the latest version for download is for 4.1.5. You can use that as a good start but you will still need to manually translate a number of phrases that are new or have changed between 4.1.5 and 4.2.2.

could not find how to open a new thread, asking here therefore (and apologize in advance) : so there is no russian language support in VB5 I understand but, say, in VB3 you could use translit.js hack - is anything like this still applies in VB5? Thank you

I don't have any idea what translit.js is but if it's a javascript that provides different laguage translations like Google used to offer it could probably work on VB5 Connect, you'd have to add the code to an appropriate template such as footer. Note in vBCloud you will not have access to this template.
