Trying to decide on future of my 3.8 Forum

Trying to decide if I move it to vB 4, wait for 5, move to Xenforo or some other software.

What is the expected release date for vB 5? That would help in making my decision.

    Thanks!

And very soon(tm) vB 4.2.1 will arrive as well!

vB5 is unequivocally the best forum software, but not yet...

If your board has absolutely no add-ons then you can move to anything.... whenever you want... i doubt you will change platforms

If your board has several addons then you will have to wait to see IF those addons are upgraded to VB5... which can take weeks after GOLD release...

YOU don't want to move to VB4 with the PHP version issues and with no ETA on future version releases...

So it sounds like you are going with VB5....

          IS vB3 working for you?
Are there any features in vB4 that you need?
Xenforo, what until after the trial to decide.

Might be my connection, but your site loads incredibly slow.

vBulletin part of my site is terribly slow. Whatever I go to next I want to get rid of many of the mods and enhancements and start fresh with just an import of users and posts.

So vB3 is working, just not working well for me.

Soon is a great answer, but doesn't really help me with planning.

Are we talking 2 days, 2 weeks, 2 months, a year?

I'd personally just go with vBulletin 4.2.0 for now.

                Really?

Heard lots of mixed reviews about vB 4.

                  Hmmm... Let me see:

That ball is telling me that maybe one of your guesses is correct but maybe not...

Xenforo is a big black hole, its future is quite uncertain, I am not using this system for lack of add-ons and lack of resources that exist in VB ...

For me, Xenforo never more ... long live Vbulletin.

oh and forgot to mention.... I would also recommend to stay with 3.8 but 3.8 does not have FBOOK login mod/feature...

I'm fairly happy with vB4 in it's current state.

I'm using WordPress for CMS so I just need the forum functionality.

Then vBulletin 4 is a good choice.
