    Hosting

I am looking to purchase the domain flexible-networks.it

Was looking at purchasing through Go Daddy and using there hosting. Will Go Daddy hosting be ok to use with vbulletin 5 Connect?

No, Godaddy is not a suitable webhost for vBulletin 5.

Can users advise on a suitable webhost. The option is available to purchase the domain through GoDaddy and point to another webhost.

HOSTGATOR is the best , i recommend this..

Use the Coupon gator25percentoff and you will get 25% off. hostgator by default offers only 20% off

On shared hosting Baby plan was good.

GoDaddy servers are incapable of running vBulletin 5 Connect due to their MySQL Version. It is below the minimum recommended version.

vBulletin is designed to run on every server that has PHP 5.3 or greater and MySQL 5.1.5 or greater installed. You must also have mod_rewrite, URL Rewrite or equivalent and you must upload the included .htaccess (web.config for IIS) to your server. As long as you choose a host that meets these requirements you will be able to install and run our software.

Most credible hosts now support both PHP and MySQL, and can run our software. We do not make official recommendations, but we do have a hosting review forum here:

Discuss PHP and MySQL hosting here. Find out which hosts people like, and which to stay well clear of.

You can also look at http://www.webhostingtalk.com, an independent review site. Sometimes you will find hosting specials there that aren't available elsewhere on the web.

HostGator is cheap. They are far from the best hosting available. How much traffic do you anticipate?

GoDaddy is fine as long as you have a VPS acct and upgrade the necessary software (ie. PHP, MySQL) yourself.

Please, do not host with godaddy or hostgator or any of the "mainstream, commercial" hosters.

How much traffic and disk space would you require? What's your budget?

There is a separate forum here for general hosting discussion. The original question was answered- GoDaddy is not suitable for vBulletin hosting. For more info on vBulletin Hosting browse here: https://www.vbulletin.com/forum/foru...osting-Options
