    few questions...

As I dont have a credit card, can I pay with a bank cheque? If so where do I send the cheque to?

2nd thing, Why is this board running vB version 2.2.3 when all the other vB sites I visit use 2.2.2 and your home page list 2.2.2 as the latest version?

    thanks

You can pay by various options (including cheque) - for more information please go here:

Fill in the quantity you need at the bottom, click submit and there you will be able to choose how to pay.

This board is running 2.2.3 for testing purposes - we always upgrade this board (and a couple of others) first to make sure the releases are suitable for everyone else and that there are no problems with it. 2.2.3 is mainly a bugfix release and will be out in the next few days.

      Hi

      Hi there,

I am fairly new to vBulletin myself, and I purchased 2.2.1 last december. The software did not have any problems I noticed, except a few typo's. A month later 2.2.2 got released which dropped the server load nicely and fixed typo's and few bugs. But users who did not wanted to upgrade, had this 2.2.2 optional.

I currently run 2.2.2 without any errors or problems, so do not let the new version 2.2.3 scare you off! It is not going from 2.2.2 to 2.3.0 so the upgrade is just 'little'.

As a registere member I can tell you they confirmed that version 3.0.0 will be out around q2/2002. Which will be a major upgrade.

If you purchase vBulletin now you get lifetime support and also one year of free upgrades (this includes the new version 3.0 too!).

Purchasing vBulletin 2.2.2 (and 2.2.3 in a few days) can be done by following the link in my signature, that way I score a little commission for the purchase (doesn't cost you more), and that way, everybody is happy!

      Anyway,
enjoy vBulletin and I hope this info could help you a little too.

seems to me that you are very well informed, so, i'm gonna ask you a couple of questions about version 3.0.
1st - Is it being tested with all browsers?
2nd - About database backend, how many will v3 support?
        TIA

          Hi,

I am as much informed as a turtle on a mexico buss to london.

1 - Yes, all 59183 browers are being tested.
(to be more precise: It is going to be standards-compliant (if not all) to XHTML1.0 (w00t) and I 'hope' browsers that came out since w3c recommended xhtml 1.0 final, are simply: compliant. It is their fault if they aren't.

2 - MySQL and thaz it .. at least not in v3.

          tubedogg:
vB3 will not be out by the end of March, I can guarantee you that.
          ^--- a fact!

One last question that I cant believe I forgot to ask... lol

I am planing to make a site a lot like NeoWin.net but instead of looking at technology as a whole, we are planing on focusing specifically on gaming consoles.

I have talked to the person who wrote the news script for them, and they said they aren't letting other people use it at the moment.

Is there some other type of news script around for vB? I have had a look at vB portal, but there is something about it I just don't like, its not very well, professional.

Is there any other ones around?

                Thanks,

                Alan (DWZ)

vBportal is the only one free for download.
Contact Chen (firefly) from vBulletin.org // their portal is not vBportal, but it doesn't come free.

I run into sites that run on vBportal almost every day.
And a few days ago I emailed a user asking which portal he used, he replied he used the one from firefly. So yeah .. there are users using it

                          vBportal = www.phpportals.com
                          firefly's portal = www.vbulletin.org

Asking anybody else on any other forum will redirect you to those anyway.
