Should I buy the 4.X Forum Classic or the 4.x Publishing Suite?

Should I buy the 4.X Forum Classic or the 4.x Publishing Suite?

Or should I just buy the 4.x forum classic now and just get the publishing suite later?

    Thanks!

Without more information how can anyone answer you? Do you have a forum running now, what do you need /want from the software, what are your plans or intentions?

I currently have a vBulletin 3.x with a wordpress as the homepage. I use the wordpress to create a webpage rather than to use it as a blog. Thanks!

I always recommend buying the full suite. It's a better overall package, plus you get ticket support included.

Well do you think the full suite is really worth the money? That's what I am wondering about. Is it really worth it to pay 75$ on top of the 175$ for the CMS?

Am I allowed to say that in my thirty years of IT I never once knew of a single person that regretted buying the full version of something, but I can state quite a few instances where folks bought the lesser version(s) and later WISH they had bought the full suite of something.
With vB we are talking less than $100, if you cannot afford that you should question if you can afford what you are doing in the first place.
I understand 'budget', but scrimp now you may very well pay for it later.
You may think you don't need some of the features the full publishing suite has to offer, and I will bet that inside of a year you will wish you had those features to expand with.

Okay thanks for your thoughts! I'll think this through. Although I am leaning towards getting the full suite right now.

We use forum classic; our main site components are:

I'd upgrade to Suite if it had a photo gallery, but what we have now works well.

Do you want blogs? I think that would swing the deal for me.

www.feathersandphotos.com.au a site run by a friend of mine uses the suite.

I have a few subscriptions, depending on my requirement. Some are the full suite, and some are just the classic forum. Maybe start off with the classic and add things as they are needed if you're not sure?

Upgrade to the vB4 forum: $175
Then upgrade to the Suite: $100
                      =$275

Upgrade now to the Suite: $ 250

                      The difference is : $25

vB5 is unequivocally the best forum software, but not yet...

How did they get the images in their threadbit (I think that's what it is called(??)) as shown on this page: http://www.feathersandphotos.com.au/...4-IOTW-Winners

Is that a standard feature of vb Suite?

                            Thanks setishock.

I had tried the vb 3.8 version of that mod but it didn't work for images that were hosted on an external site (like imageshack).

Are all of the images on your site, attachments? Or are some hosted elsewhere and displayed using the IMG tag?

100% of mine are in the built in albums. But I did a quickie test against a pic hosted elsewhere. Worked fine.
