    e-commerce questions

    A few pre-purchase questions.

    - My users have to pay for their membership. Does the Cloud version of vBulletin provide a mechanism for them to register, pay the annual fee, remind them when time to renew, and stop access if their membership is expired?

    - We run some conventions which require registration, including payment of fee, names of attendees, and signing up for specific optional features. Can we do that with vBulletin?

    - How do these all connect to banking? Paypal? How do we connect to our bank?

    thank you,

    Don

Another question.... we would be moving from a phpBB system that has been in use for many years. Is there a tool to import the years of previous posts into vBulletin Cloud?

The basic 25GB/mo service is probably enough for us, but when a forum reaches that limit, what happens? Is there a notice so it can be upgraded quickly?

      Hello,
There is no way to import into vBulletin Cloud from any software at this time.

Both VB5 (Download version) and vBCloud do allow users to create paid subscriptions, either at time of registration or later on. They should get a single email reminding them of the subscription expiration and they will lose access (assuming it is properly setup) when a subscription ends.

As for registration for conventions, there is nor real way to handle that. You could create an additional subscription but there is no way to export the information of those who have made the purchase- the system isn't designed to accept payments for anything other than site subscriptions. You might be able to modify the behavior of the download version of VB5 with custom programming but you will be unable to modify vBCloud in any such way.

PayPal is the most popular payment method- you would connect to your bank via your PayPal account.

Joe - given that there is no import feature, would it be possible for a knowledgeable person to write code to do a one time import? Obviously at a cost. Is the database structure published so that a knowledgeable person could do it?

Hello- At this time we aren't allowing imports to vBCloud so even if a knowledgeable person could import into VB5 directly we still could not accommodate as a vBCloud site. We do hope to allow imports into vBCloud in the future but we do not have an ETA for when this service will be available.
