    Upgrade license to vB5: USD$209.00
    That's the only option.

vB5 is unequivocally the best forum software, but not yet...

So in order to get a 4.2 I would have to trade for that version?

That is correct, you can use 4.2 with a 5 license but 4.2 licenses are no longer available.

Your better off trading someone for a vB5 license.

You can not do the upgrade, but you have to buy a new license if you are not in possession of a license vBulletin, so the price for a new license is $ 249 USD.

So in order to teransfer a license from someone I would first have to purchase a license. I am trying to spend as less money as i can. I had a vB license back in 2005 but one of my co-admins sold it without my consent. Come to find out after I talked to vBulletin and tried to get it back they told me it was used to be a nulled software.

I'm sorry, but you can not do anything, you have to buy a new license, you can not do the upgrade.

license transfers have to be done through vBulletin. they assign a new license holder number to the person purchasing the license, so your customer number is not compromised. vB3.8.x is a separate product from 4.2.2, and what once was a standard upgrade is no longer available, due to the discontinuing of new licenses being issued for vB4. the only license being sold is a vB5 license which gives you the option of using any version of vB at one time. in order to run 5.0, you must discontinue using the 4.2.2
