    Just a few questions...

Hello. Recently a few members of mine and the adminstrators of our forum, have decided to make a switch from EzBoard to another board. Preferabbly a script that we are able to host on our own server.

VBulletin was one of the forums that we have been looking at, and have been highly considering for use because of the many praises we have been hearing from other customers. But before we consider making the move... we have a few questions we would like to ask.

    1. Our community requires for people to register several handles for use as they post... are we able to do this on VBulletin?

    2. What process is undergone to convert EzBoard to VBulletin? Also, will all the forums be transferred along with the posts? Or are all the posts and threads dumped in a particular Archival type of forum for us to sort through and put in its proper forum?

    3. Is it possible to change the security settings to make it impossible for guests or unwanted users to view our board or the contents inside the forum?

    4. Is it Netscape friendly? Does it work with older versions of Netscape, or do my users have to upgrade to the latest version in order to view the forum properly?

    5. How much of the board look can we customize? Are we able to take out columns that we might not use? Such the as the Moderator, Views, or Rating column?

Yes, via the Admin Cp you can set it up to have members be able to use more than one handle.

There is an EZboard converter in the Members Area once you buy a license or owned license for vB. If everything is installed correctly on your server and Ezboard doesn't have a hissy fit, then you should be able to do an import without much hassle.

      3. Is it possible to change the security settings to make it impossible for guests or unwanted users to view our board or the contents inside the forum?
Yes its performed by access masks

      4. Is it Netscape friendly? Does it work with older versions of Netscape, or do my users have to upgrade to the latest version in order to view the forum properly?
vb as you download it is viewable in browsers all the way down to Netscape 4.06 and IE 3. if you do any hacks, template alteration or changes to the php files, you lose that guarantee.

All you have to do is edit the template files and you can have it look anyway you want. And its easy to edit out columns you dont want.
For the look of your board, its all done in two templates:
      header and footer
There are only 10 types of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who don't

Thank you very much for your replies! vBulletin, now, seems even more appealing than it did before. Thank you again.
