    No it is not included.
You can install one but it is not going to be standard.

vB5 is unequivocally the best forum software, but not yet...

Is there a standard / preferred mod ??

I ask as I have seen chat used on a vbulletin board and it looked integrated.

I want to be able to ask my tech to install a chat and tell him where to go to get the necessary info.

                LOL at what ??

All I'm trying to do is get a function which a lot of people would regard as industry standard ie it shouldn't be a mod but a normal option. I realise I'm a Vbulletin newbie but I came to Vbulletin after having considered other bulletin software and rejected them.

BTW I've been managing a forum for 4 years and have 4000 members.

I don't think a "chat" should be a standard function of vBulletin, or any forum software for that matter.

Well I'll probably look elsewhere - which means Vbulletin has lost a sale.

There are several chat boxes at vbulletin.org that have 100% integration.
I agree a chatbox shouldn't be standard on any software, but I also think the vbulletin suite has to much bloat as it is.
It takes all over 3 mins to install any of the chat mods at the org.

If the product doesn't do what it suites you, I'd rather not sell you something you don't need. Would you really perfer I sugarcoat and lie to you instead of telling you as it is?

The above is an opinion not a constructive response to a customer enquiry.

Thank you LocoM for your assistance. I dont mind a mod- as long as it works. I do understand what you are saying about "bloated" installations.

Sorry, seems like my post got cutoff this morning, I also had something about it requiring a modification to the default software to acomplish.

                              Thank you Zachary

I had a concern regarding "unsupported" mods that may not have worked. I knew that the "shout box" existed and worked as I have seen it on a forum.

Perhaps we can move forward ??
