What is the difference between a moderator, super moderator and an administrator?

I am trying to decide if I am going to make the jump from another software product to vBulletin and I am going to be asking a lot of questions.

    Thanks

I have another question. I have been messing around with the demo forums and I figured out how to add a moderator but I cannot figure out how to delete a moderator from a forum. How do you delete "moderator status?"

admin cp - forums and moderators - then click remove beside the moderators name

Thanks. I figured that one out with your help.

Back to my first question. I assume a moderator moderates a specific forum, a super moderator moderates a specific forum and all of the sub forums under the main forum and an administrator has moderation powers over the entire forum?

moderator = moderates a specific forum(s) he is assigned to
super moderator = moderates all forums, whether he is assigned to them or not
administrator = moderates all forums and can do administrative tasks within the vbulletin admin control panel, as well as the one who assigns who the mods and super mods will be

            Thanks Tolitz.

I am going to try this question again because one it is not a "How do I question" it is just a general question about moderator powers and two I don't have access to interact in the forum it was moved to so the moved thread is useless to me.

If my board has two main forums (Forum #1 and Forum #2) and I have one moderator for Forum #1 and a different moderator for Forum #2 and I have a private forum as a sub forum to each of my main forums will the moderator from Forum #1 be able to view and post in the Private sub forum of Forum #2 and will the moderator from Fourm #2 be able to view and post in the Private sub forum of Forum #1?

Ok, Ok, Ok.... Think about it, if Senior Members of the site and moderators of the site cannot decide right away what is the proper forum for a question to be asked/answered in how in the heck are new members supposed to?

new members with license - no posting restrictions
only vBull Team knows who own a license, not regular users/members.

me thinks that should be a vBulletin Lite "How Do I" forum

theguru, you can use access masks to disable or enable viewing/posting access in each forum/subforum for each moderator in your forum if you want, and you can assign moderators all the way down to the subforum level

Great! That is the information I was looking for.

Can you also give a select few regular members (non moderators) access to any of the private forum(s) and make it invisible to everyone else?
