i use them alot and was wondering EXACTLY what i would need to do and what i would need to know to have my own message board

i need the basics laid out, meaning i dont know ...........

how will i maintain it?
how will i design it?
how do you edit it?

All maintenance is done via a web interface on your site. You control the layout etc. through templates.

If you have all the requirements, download vblite and try it out. I didn't know what vb did, so I played with hte lite version and visited other boards that was "vbulletin". Not everything can be explained, but you just have to play around.

Also check out the ONLINE User Guide. IT covers everything in the owned versions.

Your host will supply the mysql database. But you have to maintain the vbulletin software yourself unless you get someone to do it for you. Check out http://thereisaflyinmysoup.com .
