it can be done i suppose, but the work needed to change the databases would be better spent just creating a new separate database just to house vBulletin's database - this helps with when you do regular backups of vB's database

well my hosty has only given me one mysql account, so I can not just create another one soley for vbb
so if can easly add say
      vbb_******
to each table name it would be handy
so if I can do this let me know it would solve alot of hassle

as well (I'm sorry to bother you all with the questions)
but am I able to go from a phpbb to vbb and keep memberships and post and so forth
I'm not to worried about it btu I just thought I'd ask
      thanks

well i'll have to let one of the developers answer the prefix to vB tables questions..

as to import scripts.. vB currently has import scripts for

        - Ultimate Bulletin Board 5.*
        - Ultimate Bulletin Board 6.*
        - Coolboard
        - OpenTopic
        - Ezboard
        - vBulletin Lite

we don't have official import scripts for phpBB as yet but there are hack import scripts posted at www.vbulletin.org in the Full Release forums.

if you search the forum there are a few threads regarding the prefix idea which MAY become an option in the future not sure.

It is possible to have custom db table names - but it is a lot of work to do.

If you are prepared to change the table names in all of vBulletin's queries, then yes without a doubt it is possible. But it will take a long time and is possibly not worth the effort.

What is your MySQL database being used for at the moment?

well at the moment I'm running phpbb
and testing postnuke and the such, nothing of real importance

so I guess your suggesting that I wipe out all the tables and start a freash?
I was thinking that as well
but I think I will have to talk to some of the members of the forums and see what they think, uno cause its there forum as well
but I think with the features that come with vb there shouldn't much hassle

the only other poblem is the down time of the forum how long does it take to install and config ?
