Maybe so, but it really shouldn't be necessary.
IMHO - the default install/upgrade should put the CMS in the root, with the forum under that, and include the option to relocate the CMS via a path setting for those who'd prefer to use it as an articles system (or similar).Comment

My plan to use CMS is to use it as an article system.
I want to put CMS on my mainpage (carlosx360.com) and the forums in sub-domain (forums.carlosx360.com) or carlosx360.me and boards.carlosx360.me.
This is not possible because what vBulletin wants US to do is drop the entire suite folder into one place, and the php pages can't be moved to another destination - as I understand it. I could have forums.carlosx360.com work with the forums root, and make vbulletin recognize where my vbulletin instance can be read from. I'm not sure this is true for the CMS itself, because as I understand it, its in the same folder as forums. I want both URL's to be read from a browser NATIVELY. Not having to go from carlosx360.com [redirected] to forums.carlosx360.com/cms.php and if I choose to go to the forums, it would be located at forums.carlosx360.com/boards.php
This means I want the CMS to be read as carlosx360.com, and other pages in the CMS itself carlosx360.com/example_here.php and whatever is in forums.carlosx360.com is exclusive to itself. Same be said for the blog software. I would love nothing more than to create blogs.carlosx360.com and have it be exclusive to the blog software, and be read from blogs.carlosx360.com natively. With this setup, I can ditch my Wordpress and go all out with my websites powered by vbulletin.
This could have a positive impact for SEO. VERY strong.
EDIT: OoOoOoOo....I just noticed that if you hover over the postbits, it highlights. Whoever did this: GOOD JOB! I love it.Last edited by Carlos 360; Fri 11 Dec '09, 1:31pm.Comment

As far as I'm aware, this will happen but it needs the forums to be refactored first. The 4.x series is taking the refactoring one step at a time otherwise the timescale will be significantly longer before getting 4.x to Gold.

If I post CSS and you don't know where it goes, throw it into the additional.css template.

Then the blog links will be forum/blogs/
Should be:
- CMS
- Forums
- Blogs
- Other Content Types
example.com
example.com/forums/1-thread
example.com/blogs/1-blog
example.com/other/1-other
In fact you don't need extra folders, you can achieve the hereichy with mod_rewrite.Comment
- CMS
