VB 2.0 lasted forever, as has 3.0. Now that people won't have to pay a yearly license renew fee to keep access to updates for the 4.0 family, does that mean VB will move on to 5.0, 6.0, etc quicker than they went from 2.x. to 3.x to 4.0 so they can get upgrade fees? Like, instead of 3.0 -> 3.5 -> 3.6 -> 3.7, etc, they'll go from 4.0 -> 4.1 -> 5.0 -> 5.1 -> 5.2 -> 6.0, charging update fees each time it goes to a new x.0 number? Does anyone think we'll get to 4.8 before hitting 5.0?
The way it's setup now seems as if they will get a lot now up front, but after that, no more $60/yr from a constant stream of folks.
I'm sure there's no true answer, and if there is, I'm sure VB won't come out and say it.
Just curious. FWIW, I plan on dropping the coin to update two freakin' sites in the next day. Joy.
