for the purpose of 'home page' type portal and overall content management? Am I confused? This is all still very new to me.
With CMS would VBadvanced still be needed....

I am sure that vba will still offer more than the vb4 cms will be able to provide. -
vBAdvanced is a portal not a CMS.
The vB4 CMS will not offer permanent side columns on every page with widgets etc.Comment

However, most of the people who use vBA, probably won't have a need for it if they've now got the CMS to go with it. It's an excellent alternative to the CMS however though (except, its 3rd party and you can't get support for it or your board while installed)Comment

Yes, but the widgets will not work in the forum with the first version (vB 4)
They will only be shown on the cms pagesComment

vBA advertises there vBAdvanced as CMPS (Content Management and Portal System), it can do both. And you can get support for it while it is installed on your forum, vBA is more than happy to support there product, always has and always will.
There is prolly a way to run both, will have to wait and see.
They are currently working on a new version to go along with vB4Comment

Since I have modules in a left column, I hope to continue to use vBadvanced. It serves a different purpose than the vB's CMS....steven

I use vBadvanced CMPS as my homepage. Will the CMS that comes with the new 4.0 suite be able to replace this?
Im a tad confused about the differences between vbadvanced and vb 4.0 CMS.
If 4.0 CMS does not provide a 'homepage' type section like vbadvanced is it still possible to use vbadvanced.
Thanks

With that rationale, then there is no real VALUE in the price to step up to the suite when you just forked out $240.00 three weeks before the announcement, like I did, after being ushered by staff to not wait an see before buying products they knew they would not plan to honor the licensing on anyway!
And from reading between your lines, is something that is likely to be supported continuously, unlike IB's propensity to milk a cow dry slaughter it and buy a new one!
So am I understanding you properly?

P.S. STILL wondering if they will EVER give a FINAL response to my ticket though!Comment

Brian over at vBA has announced they are in the works of making vBAdvanced to work with vB4 and as always they will support it just like they have all there other products. there current version(3.2.1) will not work with vB4, so they are making a complete recode so you will still be able to use vBA on your new vB4.
