If we pay to upgrade we can only use the product whilst V4 exists???

The complaints being posted on the forums are being read by the relevant departments right?Comment

Deimos, us vB support staff you could say are a medium of communication between you and the relevant departments and higher ups who have the power.
Ian, guess I worded it incorrectly. But the fact is you can continue to run vB 4.x when vB 5 is out. There's nothing that says you must discontinue using vB 4.x when vB 5.x is out.:: Always Back Up Forum Database + Attachments BEFORE upgrading !

Asking folks to stop using vB 4.x just because vB 5 is out is ridiculous. It won't happen. You paid for vB 4.x and you'll get the right to use it even if eventually updates/fixes to 4.x end so you can continue to use vB 4.x. But if you want vB 5.x features then of course you'd need to pay to upgrade.:: Always Back Up Forum Database + Attachments BEFORE upgrading !

Problem is you have not confirmed again.
Sorry - but saying you can still use it when V5 comes out is totally different to you can use V4 beyond it's EOL.
The two are completely different.
Sorry to be pedantic but I am fast loosing faith in IB and I am a journalist - the sort of people that others usually lose faith in LOLComment

"you'll get the right to use it even if eventually updates/fixes to 4.x end so you can continue to use vB 4.x"
That statement says that you can continue to use VB4.x even after it's stopped being supported (i.e. EOL).
The problem is all of these things should be in the FAQ which is missing a LOT of details on how the licensing will work in practice.
Myself for example, the support for my owned license ends at the end of November and I now can't renew it as I was expecting to. I'm happy to instead pay $130 to "pre-purchase" VB4 but I want to keep using VB3.x for a while after VB4 is released until all the bugs etc are out.
A simple statement in the FAQ saying that "The VB4 Suite license will cover previous versions as well but only 1 installation of any version is allowed" would clear up any of that confusion.Comment
