Series?
Has anyone heard an estimate on how long a series is expected to last?
I would hate to be buying into a series per year deal or something the way
Apple handles their ipod/iphone firmware upgrades.
It seems like every other week, I'm sending out more money for an update.
The present vBulletin software has progressed a series about every 3 to 4 years.
I'm sure with the new development team, thats surely to lessen dramatically.Comment

Expired vB License: Upgrade vB3/vB4 for $195.
Active vB + Blog License: Upgrade now for $130. Upgrade in Nov for $250.
vB5 expected in 12-18 months Upgrade again for $195?
$390 for the next 4 years > $40/year
So vB5 in another year or so?

6 months ago, Ray Morgan said that we should be "knocking on the door of vB5 in 18 months". Even if they really slip up on release dates, let's say 2 years from now. That's $195 x2 in 2 years. Just shy of $400. Yeah, I miss those $40 annual renewals already.Comment

Thanks, I searched high and low for that earlier.
I admit its quite scary.
Not only asking for an extra amount of cash but a drastic change in the infrastructure itself, forcing coders and designers to wander into new territory.And all this on blind faith.
Like walking into a dark room with your eyes closed holding out your wallet.
I hope theres a trustworthy community in that room to guide me.
But I dont see paying more for a script than what my hosting will cost.Comment
