Hi, strange question. (how to resurrect my forum)

Hi, This is my very first post in this forum. I'm a little nervous. Why? Well, I inherited a popular vbulletin forum from another user (who turned our entire website over to my care when she had to suddenly quit). I'm no programmer, and my forum decided to 'hibernate' without my telling it to. (I contacted the former webmistress and she said the license was up for renewal and that renewing should likely fix the problem.)

    So I renewed today.*cheers*
But now I don't know how to make my forum work again. I'd prefer to not lose any of the current information already in the forum as it's being used for a fan campaign and occasionally gets media attention.

I'm rather familiar with the AdminCP and I can access it, but I can't get the regular forum parts to work for the other members, or for myself.

    Speedy assistance would be appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.
    PS. Glad to be here!

How do you mean 'hibernate'? Is the hosting still active?

You might want to start a support ticket instead, as then the staff will be able to see what you mean better.

Hi, thanks for being the first to respond.
To answer your question, yes, the hosting is still active.

You may be right about starting a support ticket...

Hi, clicked the link in your sig and it doesn't seem to be loading, if you renewed the license, and aren't running the latest version of vBulletin (currently 3.8.2) you might want to see about upgrading...

but yes, a support ticket would be your best bet.

Beth, in order to receive support, please post in the proper support forum.

You've most likely been hacked, judging by the source code of the page.

I started a support ticket, but honestly, I think I want to upgrade. My original vbulletin is out of date anyway.

I've never done it before, so I'm nervous about that. I should be fine though. Support reassured me that my database wouldn't get fried.

I know I need to make a backup, but I've never done that before either. My former webmistress always took care of it before and she lives in another state from me. (logistics are very interesting.)

Anyway, thanks for all input so far, the saga continues....

I dont think this problem has anything to do with upgrading. it may be simple problem like some misconfiguration with vbseo if you use one ofcourse. I just see this problem as a simple one rather than a big one you might assume.

                regards
