If I initially purchase the leased version and decide to upgrade to the purchased version within the 6 months the lease is valid, will it cost me the difference of $80 or the full $180?

I believe it would cost you the full $180. I would await an official response just to be sure though.

Found the answer...have 60 after you lease to upgrade to purchase for the $100....then $180.

You can upgrade a leased license to an owned license for $100 within 60 days of the initial purchase of a leased license. After this period has elapsed the full cost of $180 applies.
