What do you think about this vBulletin-like skin?

This site is not obviously using vbulletin but another software but the particular theme has been customized to look like vbulletin. Is it using any copyrighted images or any other stuff or it is okay?

I am planning to use a similar skin on my site.

Hmm.. it's custom made but obviously vBulletin was their ideal. Even the scripts names are identical with vBulletin's (memberlist.php, usercp.php, etc.).

However, I think this is quite legal unless they've copy-paste from vB code. Learning from an industry leader product that has visible source is a good thing in fact.

          It's MyBB.

I think I'm right in saying there isn't really a copyright on a style that looks like vBulletin. If they stole the code behind it it might be another matter.

They're running MyBB, which is basically a VBulletin knockoff.

While I'm not sure on the accuracy, I had heard that the product began with a lot of the original VB code in it, but currently has been rewritten to replace it.

This is exactly my thoughts. I revised the HTML source after posting my reply above and noticed few mentions of MyBB in JS files, but it really looks almost identical to vBulletin. They even didn't change the nomenclature of the internal templates (check the <!-- HTML comments -->)!

And after viewing the current MyBB forum's demo, it's obvious it was very different from the one posted here.

Either way I think the forum software market is overcrowded already. I would definitely develop an entirely different product if I have the ability and resources to do so.

Yes, everyone. I think it's rather obvious that they're running MyBB.
