    Importing messages from email-system?

    Hi,

I currently run a forum with 65.000 members, with just over a million stored email-messages in our current Majordomo-based system. We have been running a custom-made forum interface, to combine web-forum and email functionality.

We are looking to move away from custom software and I judge Vbulleting to be one option.

My big question is: Is there any way for us to import our current message-base into vBulletin?

    Regards,

    Nick

vBulletin has developed its own import script which is designed to import data from selected third party software into a new vBulletin installation. However, it only works with a selected number of third party scripts, and won't work on custom scripts without extensive modification.

Is there maybe a universal format we could convert our email-data into, which vBulletin then could import without major issues? I'm not sure how thread-reconstruction would be handled (we do it using the message-ids in the emails in our system), but otherwise are there any likely showstoppers?

There is no way currently to import your messages from the Majordomo software. We do provide a text or CSV import module for ImpEx but it imports users only.
