    Can we get vBulletin installed?

We are currently running PunBB 1.2.9 and are planning to purchase and migrate to vBulletin. We have an IT person but they are currently swamped and we're looking to hire someone who can do the work of converting us over quickly and painlessly. Is there someone you can recommend?

    Hello,

I don't think vbulletin does provide a migration service. They do provide an installation service. For that kind of request you need to check on vb.org.

Noah, we do not have an official import service, nor do we allow soliciting work orders on our forums.

The import process is fairly painless and done by clicking buttons in the admin control panel. If you want to request an import, once you have purchased a license you can submit a ticket and it will be passed on to our staff who may be willing to contract it as a side job. The price would be dependant on te size of your forums.

Take it from someone who has absolutely no knowledge of mySQL in particular, and server admin in general, importing the database from phpBB to vB is more than easy. You'll have to becareful with what you're doing and read the instructions at least twice before you start. My recommendation is that set up another directory for your vB, do not over write your old forum, back up the db first, then you don't have to worry about messing up your original db.

If this is the first time you administrate a vB forum, be prepare to spend hours upon hours to study the Admin CP as it's much, much bigger than phpBB. But after seting up everything, you'll love every minute of your new board.

        Good luck

JelSoft had a service for a very short time, but due to issues, it was abandoned and Impex was released.
