    Vbulletin licenses

I don't really know where this goes. I couldn't find this on the purchase page.

I already have a vbulletin (owned licence) and i would like to install it on another forum. Would i need to pay $160 again? Or can i buy something that will let me install the forum on 2 different hosts, legally

Each license is good for one installation of vB, i.e., one set of vB files on one domain with one set of vB database tables. You will need a second license to install another copy of the software.

      .. adding to that.

You can't use the files from the first site on the second site. Each site has its own license number.

I thought there would be a discount price if you already have a licence.
Or a way to make your 2nd vbulletin legal.

the discounts are listed on the purchase page. There isn't a discount for the second license, but there is with the third...

Quantity discounts begin with the third license purchased.

wasnt there room to allow a second set of files for test purposes on a test db which was not allowed open to the public?

                  There is.

If you need to test, you can setup a temporary test instance of one existing license, behind closed doors in testvb/ or vbtest/ directory.

In case anyone is confusing floris' statement with anything more ridgid than a suggestion, that's all it is. There's no mandatory naming of the location other than it should be perfectly clear that it is just a test-area, and be closed to the public.

                      Actually:

If you have a valid licence, you may set up an additional test forum in order to test code, template and database modifications. To make this clear to us and our licence verification procedures, place it in a directory called 'testvb' and be sure to password protect it. It must not be accessible by the general public.

                        Really?
Playing the devil's advocate here, but since it's password-protected, there's really no way for anybody to verify its name one way or the other.

You can block incoming access, but that doesn't mean outgoing isn't.
