Has anyone else's quick reply box gone too big?

My quick reply box seems to be twice its normal height, but only in Chrome.

I've done all the cookie clearing and suchlike and even rebooted the machine but it's still too large.

It is otherwise functional, and it's normal sized in other browsers.

Has anyone else found this or is it just me...again?

Any hints to the cause if you inspect the element?

Grab the triangle of three lines in the lower right corner, drag them up to decrease the size of the box.

Ahh. If you have stretched it in the past, Chrome seems to remember that height.

Mine wont scrunch (opposite to stretch) to less smaller than that.. about the size of a minimum postbit_legacy.

That is about the size it should be.

Its big like that here for me.

However my site, still on 4.1.5, has it smaller in chrome.

                Now sure why...

I've noticed that if I extend the Quick Reply's text box and submit the post, I wouldn't be able to shrink it back to the original smaller size. It appears to be a cookie thing, because if I remove the editor height cookie, it shrinks back to normal height. Definitely affects Chrome, haven't tested other browsers.

Aptly named, the editor height cookie is called "editor_height": Click image for larger version

It's still a problem (though "annoyance" is a more accurate word), I just replicated it right now. If there isn't already a tracker item it should probably be logged.

Seems to be the same in Firefox.

Don't know if it is something that needs to be fixed though. A larger editor sized saved by cookie could come in handy if you're adding a lot of content.

That's why I made a point to comment that it's more of an "annoyance" than a problem in the tracker item, but figured it would be a good idea to log it regardless.

                          Just to acknowledge it exists.

Yes now that I have played around with CKEditor on my live site, I realise this is really "deliberate behaviour" and the editor can be restored to normal size by clearing the editor size cookie friom the local machine (or clearing all cookies if you prefer).

I therefore suggest this is "not a bug, it's a feature", and it should be left well alone.
