Is the price for 2nd License legitimate?

    Hello,

I had in plans to buy a second license for a new site and I was expecting to find a lower price than the initial order for the first license. Don't know which country's laws are you following but at least in EU the pricing for the 2nd license is not correct. Let me explain: The price that I'm paying covers the:
    1. Use of Software
    2. Ticketing Support
    3. Free Updates/Upgrades for the same version.
By buying a second license it's true that I'm getting:
    1. Use of Software for another domain
    2. Free Updates/Upgrades for the other domain
    3. ......BUT I'M NOT GETTING SUPPORT
At least as my Lawyer told me, there is a law in EU (and I believe that it should be in USA too), according to which you can't give to the same person, for the same timeframe, the same service (in this case Support) and ask double payment. Support is a service that I deserve to get from my first payment. The product is the same, and the time frame is also the same (life of this version). It's not anymore as the old days where it was 1 year support and updates. Now is for the version's life, which can be 2 years but also can be 8 months only.

Maybe is good to think again your pricing model?

    Thank you
    Maria

Discounts are available automatically with the purchase of a third license of the same type (Forum or Suite) under the same account. You can see the discounts available on the order page and clicking on the 'Bulk Pricing' link:

Note: That has been this way since almost the beginning.

I know about the discount for the 3nd license. I've bought my first license back to Oct 2003, so I'm not new here. What I'm saying is why there is no discount for the 2nd license while I'm getting fewer services (Support). As for the "almost the beginning", I've mentioned it already, this was because at that time the support it was by year and not by version life.

That is correct. There is no discount for a second license and never has been. Not sure you you mean about not getting support and I don't understand what it is you are asking.

Please move it to Site Feedback as I post it here by mistake. It's a complain and not a question.

Discounts are only applied if you buy multiple licenses at once. Not if you buy them one at a time.

For example, if you purchased 5 licenses at once, you would get bulk discounts.

If you purchased 5 licenses separately (Ex. Buy one today, buy one next week, buy one the week after, etc.) no discount would be applied.

                From http://www.vbulletin.com/faq.php#faq-91 :

Yes - we offer discounts for purchases of three or more licenses. The price for each license decreases depending on the number of licenses you already own and the number that you wish to purchase:

                Regular Forum Price $195
3 to 5 Forum Licenses $185.00 per license
6 to 10 Forum Licenses $175.00 per license
11 to 24 Forum Licenses $167.00 per license
25 to 49 Forum Licenses $158.00 per license
50+ Forum Licenses $150.00 per license

                Regular Suite Price $285
3 to 5 Suite Licenses $270.00 per license
6 to 10 Suite Licenses $257.00 per license
11 to 24 Suite Licenses $244.00 per license
25 to 49 Suite Licenses $232.00 per license
50+ Suite Licenses $220.00 per license

There are two ways to qualify for bulk pricing. You can place your license order all at once, in which case the discount applies to all licenses purchased. The second method is cumulative. In this case if you purchase two licenses, both these will be at full price. However the third license purchased will be at the bulk rate.

I know this, because I get lower display prices if I go to purchase a new one.

I guess the reason I don't get them is because my three licenses are of different types (2 vB Suite, one vB3.x Owned).

If you have 2 Suite licenses, you should see a discounted price for the third.
