Why does not this thread change to read after visiting it?

    I'm talking about this thread:
vBulletin 4.0.4 Maintenance Release - Now Available

I've visited it many times but when I go to vBulletin Announcements it's still shown as unread (in bold) to me and the "Go to first new post" icon is there.

and when I'm on home page it shows the "Contains unread forum posts" status icon for the vBulletin Announcements

I made it as read only by double clicking on the vBulletin Announcements forum's status icon.

Is it just me how is seeing this?
Is it a feature that I'm not aware of or is it a bug?

I was seeing it too. Like you, I had to mark the Announcements forum read in order to get it to go away.

Now I'm wondering whether this is a bug or a feature!

Worked fine for me last night and again this morning when Adrian updated it. Are you using Back on your browser after reading it?

I had the same issue...however, after Adrian posted a new post to that thread and I read it, it successfully marked itself as read. I did not use the back button on my browser at all.
No...No...Meester vBulletin, he no work right.

No, I didn't use Back on my browser. In fact I went to the thread from many pages such as usercp (subscribed forum, clicking on the go to the last post), from home page, and from the forum display. After reading it or viewing it I press on setting, use the quick navigation, or on breadcrumb links.

              Tested on FF and Flock.

Now after Adrian updated it, it worked fine and successfully marked itself as read.

              Odd!!!

Actually, I should have said 'experienced' (past tense) as now the thread is no longer 'new'. This was after Adrian updated it.

I had the same issue using Safari 4.0.4 (how ironic). Now magically the thread shows read.

I had the exactly the same issue with that thread, again in Firefox.

I had exactly the same experience. Never used the back button, I actually even left the board, then came back a while later and saw the Announcements subforum marked as new messages, but nothing new was in there.

Yeah, this isn't the first time I've noticed this happening before, either...
