Your search function does not work properly here at vbulletin.com

    FYI

I typed in the word "icons" (without the quotation marks) and searched in titles only in forums and none were found. I then searched the same in posts, which yielded several threads titles with the word "icons" therein.

    It's broke.

Everyone knows about this. There's been not one single word at all from anyone from vBulletin whether they are going to actually fix these irritating and obvious bugs.
That's it. If you REALLY can't say ANYTHING nice to me at all on this forum, then I am going to go insanely mad at you. I've had enough of the UNTOLD ABUSE you are all giving me and you should really be CONSIDERATE of other people.

When you search "Forums" it searches the Forum content type which is limited to the title and descriptions of the forums here. When you search posts, it searches the content within the forums.

You know what, I'm a little bit angry. 'Upgraded' our forum and half the userbase just goes overnight. Bought the full suite but none of it really works so we're disabling the CMS and Blog until VB actually get them usable and on top of all that the search is now broken.

          Money well spent. :/

Thanks Loco... we have definitely come a long way.

Wayne... this just does not make any sense at all.

A search should be very simple... tell it to search in forum thread titles and it does so. Tell it to search in forum posts and it does so. Who has ever wanted to search forum titles and descriptions? That is just plain silly.

Like I said... it is broke.

If I search [x] Posts (Search Entire Posts) by a user in multiple content types, it returns threads started by that user. What's up with that?

Im a member on HTS, you helped me with my sub build

The search isnt particually intuative, its even worse in VB4. It returns results based on relevancy by default, which isnt good because you get posts from 10 years ago that although have the correct keywords, have no relevancy to a problem today.

                    Small world.

I agree on the search... it works fine in 3.8.x and previous. There is absolutely no reason at all to change things. It was not broke and simply needs to be put back like it was. I paid for the vB4 Suite and may as well toss it in the trash.

I find the new search layout in VB 4 one of the main obstacles stopping me from upgrading my forum. It's awfully confusing and should be simplified.

Edit... I also paid for the vb4 suite and that money was basically thrown away.

                          Google can't search hidden forums.

vB5 is unequivocally the best forum software, but not yet...

Search is supposed to be simple.
s.molinari - I would like to ask all customers to definitely feedback issues with the software and be specific with the issues, but to basically suck-up what happened in the past and try to just look forward.
