ah, come on Ryan, why do you want to break my conspiracy statement... i have so much fun with it.

btw, you are fully right. Andy or whoeverelse can still be working on the bugs without reporting them as fixed yet, as they usually are cascading processes, so they need a large group of fixes to make sure everything is ok.

most ofthe bugs reported are small, easily fixed.. .the biggest ones are already on schedule i'm sure.

and yes, the 3.x generation is dead, does not mean the support is...
oh no, i'm not going with Xenforo... come on, i'm better than that... i stick with Wordpress... rofl

Looking at the bugtracker there is hardly a bug that is even near critical. 3.8.4 is very stable, and pushing back a maintenance release that will squash some minor bugs a few weeks will not kill it or anyone for that matter. In the past there were no scheduled maintenance releases, and the gaps in between were wider, if anything.
And yes: of course 3.8.4 will be dead after 4 is released. There will no new features implemented. But Jelsoft will follow it's well known product lifetime cycle.

All this about 3.x being dead is beyond ridiculous. The maintenance release schedule allows Andy, or whoever is fixing bugs, to take a day or two before the scheduled release to go through the Bug Tracker, fix the bugs, and test the bug fixes before release. They know when the release is going to happen, so they can schedule bug fixing around that.

Just because he's not looking at reports daily just means Priority is taking place for vB4, and they'll be looked at before release time.

Let go of the Conspiracy Theories for once and start thinking logically, why would they just stop maintaining the current branch for something that doesn't even exist as a usable product?
We are up to 3.8.4 at the moment. I can see why they are dropping support for the earlier versions of vB.com.

        Pity you can't Ryan.
If you haven't upgraded and you have got an earlier version I suggest that you upgrade now because you mightn't be able to upgrade from an earlier version of vB once it changes to vB version 4.

you can't stop starting gossips, hey shwab... i would suggest you simply stop commenting anything regarding versions.

This is incorrect. There is always an upgrade path available.

              Hi,

I hope the staff don't mind me bumping this thread again.

We're nearing the end of October so any confirmation whether 3.8.5 is going to be delayed or be released on time?

Any official announcement yet to when or if 3.8.5 is going to be released?

I think you guys should keep the 3.x customers in the loop to what's going on. We're nearing the end of November now.

Don't expect 3.8.5 until version 4 has gone gold and they find the free time. That's the impression I get from the tweets

That's all well and good but I think what people are looking for is an official announcement.

I mean I don't think that's going to take too much of their time and it is unfair that they're keeping all the 3.x fans in the wilderness about all this.
