    In-thread rating

    Hi,
Just a quickie, when you rate a thread, shouldn't that placeholder be replaced by the actual rating, rather than still showing the rating drop-down, much like the polls get replaced?

The thing is once you rate a thread, what happens if there are new posts to that thread and your opinion of that thread changes? You might want to change your rating vote.

By keeping the drop-down box, you can change your rating vote at any time. If it were replaced with the actual rating, they would have to either come up with some new way for you to change your rating, which adds unneeded complexity, or else you wouldn't be able to change your rating vote at all.

By the way, changing of thread rating is still controlled from the Admin CP (you can enable / disable it there).

Hmm, I believe I tried just that (re-voted after a new post) and was told I'd already rated this thread. This lead me to my initial post.

Is this a bug? (Am I the first? )

It said I wasn't allowed to change my vote. That most likely means that they've disabled that feature, as it said: "this feature may have been disabled"

I'd be inclined to agree, if it wheren't for the fact that this thread has a rating (4 stars). If disabled, why have a rating? Logic-101 anyone?

I was able to rate it just now... Let's see if I can change it after this post...

                Not-be-a-flaming-n00b-101 anyone?

Just because you can't change your vote, doesn't mean you can't rate it to begin with.

... Nope, no go. Is it because I posted, and not a "fresh" user? ie. hasn't posted on this particular thread before?

Thanks, DarkReaper, you just proved my point: If you can rate once (as it seems is the case now), why keep it open to further changes? Either that's a bug, or the rating could/should be shown in its place.

Oh, I see what you're saying...if the ability to change ratings is disabled, it should show the rating instead of the drop-down box.

I won't yell, but imagine that I am: If that is the case, then there's no reason whatsoever NOT to show the rating. And it can't be that hard to do either.
