              Mazinger...

Na, I think the point was, it's easier to have authority if you can be clearly identified as staff. An avatar does this, and I learned the other week some people (incorrectly) assume that if you do not have a staff avatar, your knowledge is worthless.

              Just my 2 cents.

Then I guess it's not a big deal. But I think a lot of people recognise the staff here from their avatars. I've always found it very helpful if I'm just looking for the "official" response about something.

I have avatars and signatures turned off most of the time.

I recognize staff by their bolder name and their usertitle.

But .. it has been made aware internally by me and there have been made changes.

I think that's it for now.

I'm not adamantly opposed to an avatar. I've just never really felt the need to have one before. OTOH, I'd rather people listen to me because I'm right rather than because I have some image denoting authority. And I'd rather people didn't listen to me when I'm not right...

The truth is that he hasn't learned the secret Jelsoft handshake yet. No avatar until he does.

As would anyone. Problem is, some people don't give that respect.

For those people the avatar doesn't help either.
