    BBcode for inline code snippets

vBulletin has multiple BBcodes that deal with posting code snippets. But the problem is that they're all replaced by the HTML element <pre>, which has been styled to occupy its own space. However, it comes always a need to post small inline code snippets alongside other text, but if we used any of the pre-formatted BBcodes it takes its own space and breaks apart from other surrounding text.

Now what I do if I want to insert some inline code is switching to the full editor mode & highlight these codes with font Courier New, which is both impractical & non-semantic.

Can someone from the staff add some BBcode that is inline? It could replace either the HTML <code> or <samp> elements, both are inline-level elements.

I like the idea, but I'm not sure what tag we'd use, since [code] is already in use.

Neither the default package nor we on vb.com ever added something like this.

You can add this on your own forum pretty easily though!

I forget if span tags allow borders. This would be pretty sweet:

                    <span style="border: 1px solid #443300; background-color: #FFEFCF; padding: 2px;">{$stuff}</span>
